Sporting Cascades FC, the new professional soccer team that will begin play at Civic Park in 2027, will be offering fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the building of the organization through “Countdown to Kickoff,” a monthly series produced in conjunction with Morning Kickaround. The club announced the series this morning during a live appearance on Morning Kickaround’s epic Kickathon 2 show.
Morning Kickaround is an interactive soccer show streamed three times each week on Morning Kickaround’s YouTube channel, and is hosted by SiriusXM veteran Jason Davis and self described “grassroots journeyman” Robert Kerr. Clubs previously featured in the “Countdown to Kickoff” series include AC Boise and Atletico Dallas.
Each episode will feature members of the front office and technical staff giving fans insight into what goes into creating a professional sporting team from scratch, from the mundane-yet-vital—how do you select healthcare plans and 401(k) plans for a pro sports team?—to the flashy-and-critical—how do you recruit and sign professional athletes for a club that has a lifetime record of 0-0-0?
The series will run through the team’s 2027 season opener, and will touch on the upcoming Footy Fest music festival, combines and player recruitment, the kit design process, the formation of the supporters’ group, the building of the team store, and more.
Sporting Cascades FC staff will appear live on Morning Kickaround, and will give viewers a front-row seat to the successes and speed bumps that naturally come with building a professional soccer team.
The “Countdown to Kickoff” schedule for the remainder of 2026 is:
Wednesday, September 23 at 7:00 a.m. PT
Wednesday, October 21 at 7:00 a.m. PT
Wednesday, November 18 at 7:00 p.m. PT
Wednesday, December 16 at 7:00 a.m. PT
Sporting Cascades FC appearances will also be shared through the club’s social media channels after each live episode.
